It all started when...
The Orchard Garden Hotel has been a mainstay of Nassau for generations. Ask any islander where to find us, and they'll likely point you in the right direction. Even at its humble origins, The Orchard Garden has hosted such esteemed guests as The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, while the Duke was serving as Governor of the Bahamas.
Purchased in the 1970's by esteemed scholar and educator, the late Dr. John Knowles (1935-2016), this forty-room hotel has since been expanded and restored and is now a favorite amongst Bahamians. An avid gardener, Dr. Knowles cultivated countless specimens of exotic fauna and transformed Little Orchard Cottages into The Orchard Garden Hotel you see today.
This wide variety of plants (including a centuries old Banyan tree) attracts all manner of wildlife, from hummingbirds to butterflies to Bahama parrots. All of this and more can be seen by navigating over to our gallery, where the images will speak for themselves.
